Cozy Up & Solve the Mystery: 30 Days of Whodunits!
Get inspired with my curated list of 30 whodunits, the calm after the storm, book adaptations and reality TV specifically Real Housewives.
Welcome to The Journal, a Tuesday dispatch where I share my musings on all things literary and life. You’ll find personal recommendations, reflections, and thoughtfully curated books.
The Calm After Milton, 30 Cozy Mysteries and Reality TV 🌪️📚📺
I would often moan to my friends who live in the Northeast that fall means they get beautiful changing leaves and cooler weather while we folks down South get hurricanes and extra humidity. What was not on my bingo card were tornadoes and strong ones!
I’ve been through many hurricanes, and I’m used to them. You see one coming; you prepare or evacuate and hope for the best. Tornados, on the other hand, I have zero experience with, and we had quite a few nearby.
I’m so grateful and feel blessed (thank you, Jesus) that my home and family are okay. But after Helene and now Milton, I’m respectfully asking the weather angels if we can opt out of any more storms for the season.
So it’s fair to say that last week, I was mentally exhausted.
Dealing with the storms, everyday life things, and being inundated with all the election ads (by the way, early voting in Florida starts in most counties on Oct. 21st) has been a lot.
The GOOD NEWS is that I can reliably count on books and TV to escape when I need to and to get through things!
First, if you’re into reality TV, Bravo has four housewives shows on now, which is wild considering we had a drought during the summer. The top two on my list are RHOSLC and RHOP.
The Salem’s Lot adaptation is now available on Max. If you missed my review, check it out. Up next on my watch list is Disclaimer on Apple TV+.
Finally, I have enjoyed escaping into cozy mysteries over the past two months! I’ve been doing a “30 Days of Cozies” series on YouTube, and every day for thirty days, I’ve been sharing a cozy mystery book or a cozy mystery series with five books or less. So, I’m sharing the list with all the cozies from the series in today’s newsletter.
In the comments, tell me what has been getting you through life lately. Also, what books have you been reading and loving this month? I’d love to hear from you.
I hope you’re having a great week!
